The Mπrπ║e║ti Mausoleum is situated at the heart of the Vrancea region and was erected in memory of the Romanian soldiers who died on the battlefields of World War I. In recognition of its great human losses during the battles here, the town of Mπrπ║e║ti received the War Cross of France in 1919.
Inside the mausoleum, the burial chambers contain the remains of 6,000 identified or unknown soldiers. A museum nearby displays flags, guns, and war trophies. The bas- reliefs decorating the outside of the dome represent scenes from the Mπrπ║e║ti battles and are the work of sculptors Cornel Medrea and Ion Jalea.
